Submissions: to Helen Dishaw for each section in an emailed Word document with photos attached separately.
Submission Parameters
Word Count: In general, most articles are 350-750 words. But your article could be more, if necessary and topic dependent, or less if containing lots of step-by-step photos. Feel free to title your article, or we'll pick one for you!
Photos/Video: submit photos separately from your document in either .jpg or .png. You may notate in your article where you'd like each photo submitted. Please include captions, including specie ID, for your photos, and photo credit. If you would like to submit an accompanying video (we love multimedia!), to be hosted on the TAG website in conjunction with the newsletter, please let your Point Person know and they will coordinate getting the video from you.
Organization logo: Please include a logo from your organization in either .jpg, .png, or (preferred) .eps
About you: Include in your article document your name, email address to be published with the article, facility, and job title

Call for Articles
Species Spotlight: Each issue will highlight the management and husbandry needs of a different raptor species. Focus is on a different species each issue and should include information from the relevant SSP and/or the Ambassador Animal SAG’s PARIS page when possible.
Field Updates: What's happening in the world of raptor research? This section can be broad and focus on in-situ or ex-situ studies on raptors. This includes reports on completed research, but also studies in the planning process, researchers looking for participating institutions or partners, etc. Conservation Action: This section’s aim is to share stories about conservation efforts around the globe. Talk about a project you, or your facility, are part of, or one that you think is just the bees’ knees. Education, Engagement, and Ambassador Animals: This section will highlight innovative raptor education, ambassador raptor management (training, enrichment, equipment, presentations/shows/encounters, etc.), and visitor experience and engagement. EEAA articles should share the goals, benefits, and challenges of the program, how the animals or artifacts are presented, and how the messaging around the animal helps us to achieve our goals. |
Enrichment and Training: Case-study style articles focusing on the care and training of an individual or group of raptors. Articles can highlight husbandry, training for veterinary procedures, novel enrichment or exhibits.
Trending Topics: This section will focus on different areas each issue, but may feature more than one topic per newsletter. Currently, this section is open for any topic, but in the future we may call for submissions on a specific topic. Suggested topics you may be interested in writing about could include advances in veterinary care and raptor health, diets (Ex: carcass feeding, whole prey, fast days, supplements), exhibits (Ex: design, nests/nest boxes, perching), mixed species successes or issues, welfare, advances in breeding. TAG Updates: This section is not dedicated to big articles, but more announcements and celebrations. Featured here will be breeding/hatch announcements, Keeper Profiles (highlight yourself or someone else - 200 words or less and a photo!), Program Leader milestones (let us know you’ve got an anniversary coming up!), surveys, etc. Supplementary articles: Includes articles that don't fit neatly into one of the above sections but still includes information that is relevant to the goals of the TAG. |
